Dear Zoo

This summer I have been to three different zoos! I love going to the zoo. I like seeing all the animals, especially the ‘nocenus, elephants and flamingos. At one zoo, I got to feed the flamingos. Have you ever done that?

In this book, the writer writes to a zoo and asks them to send him a pet. But the elephant is too big, the camel is too grumpy and the frog is too jumpy. Finally, the zoo sends him just the right pet. Can you guess what it is? A dog!

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Books are one of my favorite things – I LOVE BOOKS!!!! Books can be about all kinds of things: puppy dogs like Biscuit or bat like Stellaluna. Mama and I read Bible stories that are all true, but some stories are just pretend like Santa Claus or Amelia Bedelia. We read about other true things like math, science and all of God’s creation. Or we read about penguins that eat lollipops and mice who live in dollhouses. I can learn and imagine when I read. Mama and I will certainly read 1,000 books before I start Kindergarten…and then we’ll just keep reading!

Where the Wild Things Are

I love monsters! In this book, a boy named Max goes to an island where there are monsters.  He gets to play with them, which is a lot of fun.  But he soon misses his home, so he sails home to his bedroom where his mama has left him some soup for supper. Playing with monsters would be fun, but it’s always nice to go home.

How Do I Love You?

How do I love you? I love you like a bee loves a flower. Or a bird loves to sing. Or the earth loves to spin. Or a duck loves puddles. (I love puddles, too!) I love my mama, and papa, and Ethan sooo much. And I love this book, but I really love Ten Tiny Toes by the same illustrator better.

One Year!!!

A year is a very, very long time. And it has been a whole year since Mama and I started our goal to read 1,000 books before Kindergarten. And, as of today, we have read 693 books!!!

I have found some wonderful new books including Fancy Nancy (my favorite is Poison Ivy Expert), The Little Blue Truck (which Ethan loves to read) and Stellaluna. Mama says we read Stellaluna 50 times in one month…we probably did. I love bats!

And now we will keep reading. We don’t have long to go…but when we reach 1,000 we won’t stop! And Mama says as soon as my new school books arrive next week, I can learn to read by myself!!!
