The Caterpillar and the Polliwog

I love catching caterpillars. And butterflies, but they are hard to catch. Mama taught me that caterpillars become butterflies. It’s a little strange, but God made it that way. I learned from watching Curious Georgethat frogs come from fishlike things called polliwogs. Also strange, but Mama says God creates all kinds of amazing things.

I really liked this book. The caterpillar brags to everyone that when it gets big, it will change into something else. The polliwog can’t believe it, but he learns from a fish that he will turn into something else, too. Will he turn into a butterfly? No, that’s silly. But while he waits for the caterpillar to change, he slowly changes too. And he’s amazed when the butterfly pops out of the cocoon that he is now a frog!

Frog and Toad are Friends

It is good to have friends. Friends help us when we need help. Friends are kind. And friends are there to have fun with!

Frog and Toad are good friends. They help each other. They are kind to each other when one of them is sick or needs to be made happy. They like to have fun together. Everyone should have a friend like Frog or Toad.

Trashy Town

I love when the trash truck comes to my house and takes the trash. It is fun to stand at the door or out on the porch to watch them. We once had trash men that brought us treats, and we would make them special things, too. They were my trash men friends. I miss them.

Mr. Gilly is a great trash man. He collects all the trash in Trashy Town so it is all clean. It is a very hard job, but we need trash men. I am thankful for them. Like Mr. Gilly, when they are done with their job, I bet they go home and take a bath, too!

The Wolf's Chicken Stew

Mr. Wolf loves to eat. And he is very hungry for…chicken! But Mrs. Chicken, who lives down the street, is not very fat. So, he decides to bake her all kinds of yummy things – cookies, a huge cake – so she will eat it all up and get very fat. After several days, he decides she must be fat enough and goes to her house to catch her and eat her. But when she answers the door, she is not any fatter! But all her little chicks – dozens and dozens of them – are very that Mr. Wolf made them cookies, and cake, and all kinds of yummy treats to eat. Mr. Wolf finds out he is happy that he made those little chicks happy. So, he doesn’t eat Mrs. Chicken…and he keeps making treats of the chicks!
